Priya Rao, from Mumbai settled down in Chennai (since last 14 years) have passion and interest for classical dance since childhood. Took training under Gurus in Mumbai at the initial stage and then appeared for Gandharava University exams and passed Bachelor’s degree in Bharatanatyam
Priya Rao Commerce graduate and further pursued the following:
Master degree in Bharatanatyam and hold 2nd rank from University of Madras.
Diploma in Folk dance – Oyilattam & Tappattam from Dakshina Chitra, Chennai.
Basic of Mohiniattam from Guru Smt. Gopika Verma.
Also trained under :
Guru Smt. Lakshmi Ramaswamy for Bharatanatyam.
Guru Smt Uma Murali for Kuchipudi
As a grace for dance, also learnt Bollywood style dances in Mumbai’s Dance Academy. and had performed in various places on various occasions.
Also acquired proficiency in Nattuvangam and worked in the Schools at Chennai as a Dance Teacher having experience of more than 10 years. By taking weekend Dance classes, I continue to promote this tradition and spiritual art form of Bharatanatyam. As a passion for dance, would like to make this art as my profession and dedicate myself to pursue this glorious art form of Bharatanatyam.
